Our Love Story ♥

Remember when I told you that you have to wait for our wedding to see our whole prenup video? Well, looks like I failed the marshmallow test. I just couldn't wait until our wedding to show you our video, so I'm sharing it to you now! Sorry naman. Talagang na-low EQ ako.

I just love how the video captures our love story perfectly, and it has that whole romantic-comedy vibe that we wanted. Pacute na kung pacute, but we want the viewers to laugh and smile whenever they watch our video. And many of our friends did tell us that they really felt our kilig when they saw our video. So kudos to Aisle 1401 for a job well done! :)

Of course, I also want to thank my fiance for being game during the filming of the vide, and for being the best actor ever! Effortless na effortless talaga ang acting mo. Also, thank you to my best friend Wil, who is also Mox's best man in our wedding, for appearing as an extra in our video.  Ikaw na ang best supporting actor! :)

Kudos to Our Prenup Suppliers!

I'm happy to say that we have finally received our official prenup photos from our photographer Project Happiness. Whee! I really love our photos; I actually had to restrain myself from sharing all of them here before our wedding. Nalo-low EQ talaga ako, promise. But for the purpose of writing our prenup suppliers' ratings, I'll let you have a sneak peek on some of our photos. Hehe.

As you all know, Osep&Mimi was the first supplier that I booked. I was really excited to work with them for our prenup and wedding, but then, I heard that Osep and his girlfriend/business partner Mimi broke up. I was so worried that their whole business would go down as well. I was actually THIS close to looking for other photographers, but I decided to  wait for our prenup and see whether I'll stick with them or not.

But as soon as we started our prenup shoot with Osep and his new partner Chris, I knew that sticking with them would be the right choice! We weren't models, but we didn't have a hard time posing during the shoot. Osep made us very comfortable in front of the camera, and since we are not fans of super-cheesy poses, he directed us on poses that were fierce and astig. Haha! Plus, he was so game to do some buwis-buhay shots. Walang ka-ere ere sa katawan!

Our prenup photos also came with 40 4R-size prints, which were originally not included in our photo package. So those prints were definitely a pleasant surprise. By the way, here are some of my favorite shots. Grabe, mukha kaming mga models! Haha!

 

I had to give Project Happiness minus points though because I had a hard time contacting Osep during the planning of our prenup. Also, it took a long time for him to send our prenup pics, even though he already promised us that he would send them immediately. Of course, I understand that he is in the middle of fixing all the loose ends with Mimi, but that is definitely one negative point against him.

Since this is our official prenup, I decided to splurge a little and get Aira Franco as our prenup stylist. During my meeting with her, she suggested a lookboard that was more hipster than her usual bohemian looks. I was a bit nervous yet excited because it was so different from our usual getup. Can you imagine, she was able to get Mox to wear boots! Nakakatuwa!

At first I thought she was the usual kikay stylist, but she was the complete opposite. Cowboy na cowboy siya! In fact, she and Mox got along pretty well because they both have the same interests: skateboarding and surfing. Ako pa ang na-OP sa kanila. Haha.

During our shoot, she really took care of us, making sure that we weren't tired, hungry or hot. She carried our bags all the way to our next location and even helped me go down the big white rocks  near the dam just so I wouldn't slip. She was our ever-reliable personal assistant that day. :)

One thing I really liked about her was that she makes sure we always look great in the photos. I remember one instance when I was sitting on the ground wearing my ultra-short shorts, Aira went over to position my bag in front of me, just so my elephant-like thighs would be covered. Panira kasi sa picture eh. Haha

Aira's styling package also came with free on-site prenup hair and makeup, so we didn't have to worry about booking a prenup HMUA. At first, I thought our HMUA would be Fritz Mortel, Aira's usual partner, but it was Boombee who was assigned to us that day.

I love her makeup on me; I looked so fresh and radiant! She was also ready with her pack of tissues and her retouch bag to make sure we were always pretty and handsome at all times. :) But I can't give her a perfect score because my head hurt from all the pulling and combing during our shoot.

Who knew that a place as beautiful as this one is only an hour away from my house? Even Osep and Aira were in awe of the beauty of Wawa Dam. They kept on asking me how I found about it. The lighting was absolutely perfect! Even at three in the afternoon, the sunlight was soft and not so harsh.

The people in Wawa Dam were also very helpful, from the barangay officials to the tour guides. The guide assigned to us led us to some of the more picturesque spots in the dam, and helped us haggle with some of the locals. 

What I didn't like about the place was that everything you do has a price, literally! One time, we had to cross a wooden bamboo bridge to get to the other side, and we were asked to pay P5 per person! Grabe lang. Of course, even with all those "hidden" fees, Wawa Dam is still relatively cheaper than the other prenup venues, so it's all good. Isipin na lang natin na tulong na natin iyon sa kanila. :)

Our Save-the-Date Video by Aisle 1401

With only two months left before our wedding day, it's time to reveal our Save-the-Date video, made by Aisle 1401! Watch this, and you'll probably get an idea on how Mox and I met and "fell" in love. Haha!

You have to wait after the wedding for our full prenup video though. Syempre, kelangan may surprise pa rin. Hihihi.

Models For A Day: Our Official Prenup Shoot

Last Friday, Mox and I finally had our prenup with our official wedding photographers, Osep&Mimi. We were supposed to have our prenup in November, but we had to reschedule because it was exactly the day when Yolanda hit the Philippines. Kainis, ang malas ng timing namin. It was also the peak season for weddings, so the earliest possible date that both our stylist and photographers were available was in January. That's another two months of waiting, but at least we had more time to prepare. Hehe.

The day before the shoot, I took a day off from the office to buy the food that we would bring to the shoot. I didn't want our suppliers to be hungry, but I also didn't want to buy too much food since I knew that we would be hiking, and it would be difficult to bring all the food and drinks with us. With that in mind, I decided to just buy:

• Two packs of Regent cakes (Chocolate and Custard flavors)
• One pack of Nagaraya (Barbecue)
• One pack of Pica-Pica (Cheese)
• One jar of Stik-O
• One six-liter container of  water

These were also my favorite snacks because I was thinking that in case our suppliers wouldn't be able to finish the food, at least I would be able to take them home and eat them myself. Haha!

On the day of the prenup, I woke up very early to prepare our things. Mox was supposed to be at our house at 7:30am, but I learned that he woke up at around 8:00am,  and our call-time at Aira's house was at 9:00am! Luckily, there was no traffic on that day, so we met halfway and was at Aira's house a few minutes past our call-time. Pasalamat si Mox na maaga pa rin kami or else, gyera na ito! Haha!

As soon as we got there, we met with Aira and Boombee, her makeup artist for the day. I was expecting to see Fritz, her usual HMUA, but Aira said that she's currently rotating her team members so it was Boombee's turn to do my hair and makeup. While she's busy prepping me up for the shoot, Aira was fixing our clothes and preparing the accessories needed. Then, we just ordered lunch and ate at her house. Afterwards, we were on our way to Wawa Dam! :)

The travel to Wawa Dam took about an hour because of the traffic, but luckily, we still arrived there on time based on Aira's schedule. Osep was already there, along with his teammate Chris. Boombee retouched my makeup while Mox was busy fixing the permits needed for the shoot. As soon as our tour guide arrived, we were off to our first location for the day.

Our overall look for the prenup was bohemian hipster, so our wardrobe for the first layout were shorts and boots for me, and a flannel shirt and boots for Mox. We shot around the bridge and the abandoned building overlooking the dam. Very ghetto. Hehe.

We then hiked some more and found this rocky, open space, with the mountains as a background. We changed into our wardrobe for the second layout: a floral dress and boots again for me, and a military jacket and black shirt for Mox. We had to rent a cottage so that we would have some place to put our things. We then crossed a shaky, wooden bridge to get to the other side. Luckily, my clumsy side was not present so I was spared the humiliation of falling off the bridge. Haha.

For our third layout, we decided to shoot near the dam itself. We changed into our last set of clothes for the day: a long printed dress for me and a denim jacket and white shirt for Mox. We decided to take a side trip first because I requested Osep for some photos on a raft, so our tour guide served as our boatman as we went to the middle of the reservoir. I was a bit nervous because the raft was shaky and I didn't want to fall into the lake, but the boatman was able to steer us into safety. And judging by Aira's photo, the experience was worth it.

Finally, we went off to our last location for the day: the rocks along the dam. This was actually the reason why I chose Wawa Dam as our prenup location; I love the big rocks! Dyosang-dyosa lang ang peg! It was a bit difficult navigating around the rocks because I wore a long dress and sandals, but Aira and Osep were there to help me get there safely. We had to move fast because it was almost six and the sun was about to set, but a few minutes after starting the shoot, the sky suddenly cleared up, and there was sunlight everywhere! Imagine that, we were given extra time to shoot by God! Naawa siguro sa amin kasi nagcancel nga kami dahil kay Yolanda. Haha.

All in all, it was a tiring yet fun shoot. I'm so thankful for our suppliers who were game enough to hike through the dam to capture the perfect shot. They also kept on saying how beautiful the place is! It was the perfect location for our prenup. :) Now I can't wait to see our pictures!

Kudos to Our Freenup Suppliers Part 2

I received our freenup pictures from Chasing Tales around three weeks ago, but with the recent devastation of Visayas due to typhoon Yolanda, I felt it was inappropriate to share our pics to you. But maybe it's now time to give credit to our wonderful suppliers who made our second freenup experience a success. :)

I actually thought that Wale was a boy during our exchange of emails, so during our freenup, I immediately introduced myself to the only boy in their team. Well, I was wrong. It turned out that Wale was a slim, boyish GIRL. Haha! Nakakahiya!

Our winning entry for their contest was to have our freenup taken at an amusement park, where we would play games and be carefree and playful. However, I decided to change concepts because I felt that it would be too costly to shoot in Star City or Enchanted Kingdom. Luckily, Wale and the rest of the team still allowed us to retain our prize even though we had a totally different concept in mind.

The group certainly has potential. Their pictures were able to capture the vivid and bright colors of the graffiti surrounding our venue, but I particularly love their dramatic black and white images. Those pictures actually have a sort of photo-journalistic feel to them. Ang ganda talaga!

 
So why only 3.5? No, it's not that they weren't good. I just feel that they still have a lot of room for improvement. :) They are practically newbies in the wedding industry so they still have a lot to learn in directing couples how to pose. Sometimes kasi the poses that they would make us do are too common already. In fact, I have a lot of photos were we were doing the same poses all over again. Also, I was so oily in some pictures, and Wale didn't even ask my HMUA to powder my nose. Bwiset talaga na ilong yan. Haha

I got Jen Gumban to do my hair and makeup for the freenup. Since I already booked her to be my entourage's HMUA on our wedding, I got a discount on her prenup rate. Yey to more savings! :)

She asked me how I like my hair and makeup to be for the shoot, and even asked for pegs. And sure enough, she was able to give me the looks that I wanted. :)  She's very nice and easy to talk to. Plus, she's from the same company as Mox, so you can imagine their bonding moments. Haha! Ako pa tuloy ang OP sa kanilang dalawa.

I gave her a 3.5 though because she didn't accompany us to our prenup venue, although I understand that she had to attend to some urgent matter in her office. Her assistant/hairstylist was the one who did our retouches in the venue. While I like my makeup, there were some instances when she couldn't retouch my makeup, which led to my very oily face. Also, I really didn't like that she put too much hairspray, making my hair stringy and yucky.

VENUE: Abandoned building near Betty Go Belmonte Station

I first learned about this building from Ren, who had their freenup here with NYOI (yes, my previous freenup supplier). I've always wanted to do a photo shoot in an abandoned building, so this was the perfect venue to do our freenup. Mox also agreed to the idea because he thought it was "cool", his words, not mine. Haha.

We did our shoot at around 9am because Ren said people would usually shoot in the afternoon, usually cosplayers. Sure enough, just as we were ending our session, a group of people came by to shoot. Sakto timing namin.

Just a bit of warning though, the building is dark and smelly, with lots of dust and dog poop scattered on the floors. So if you're a bit iffy on having dirt and grime on your clothes, it's better that you look for another venue instead. Still, it's a pretty cool place to have a prenup pictorial, especially if you want something that is totally different from the usual outdoor shoot.

Shooting Our Own Mini-Movie

Sorry for not updating this blog as regularly as I would like to. It's now six months before our wedding, and we are now getting busier than ever!

The first on our list was our prenup video shoot with Aisle 1401. We scheduled our shoot last October 23, which was also our third anniversary as a couple. We are already familiar with prenup photo shoots, but shooting for our video was a whole different experience and I really didn't know what to expect. I am not that comfortable seeing myself on the screen, so I was worried that I would be awkward in front of the camera.

But luckily the shoot was a success! Despite being tired from all the acting and wardrobe changes, we really had fun, mostly because of our very supportive suppliers. :)

We first met Anna and John during the pre-prod meeting, but we haven't met the other duo of Aisle 1401, Miko and Drei, until our prenup shoot itself. I thought it would be awkward at first to be acting in front of strangers, but luckily, Miko and Drei made us feel at ease immediately. Bonding agad sila ni Mox sa NBA and Clash of Clans! Haha!

They want our shoot to be true to our story as much as possible, but I also like how they were able to play around and improvise to make the video better. Of course, they still asked for our permission to make these changes, which showed that they value their client's opinion. They also directed us how we should act during each scenes, and in case we made a mistake, they would not hesitate to re-shoot again until we would finally get the scene right. Talk about dedication to their craft!

I only gave them a 4 because I haven't seen our finished video yet, but knowing them, I'm sure it would be great! I can't wait! :)

Tippy may not be my HMUA for my wedding, but I am happy that I was at least able to his magic hands! I love how he exactly knew what kind of color would look best on my face. He suggested to use fuchsia for my lips, which I thought would look baduy at first, but it actually made me look fresh and modern. Ang ganda ko lang. Haha!

And his makeup lasted for a long time! Imagine, our shoot lasted for the whole day, but I only had my makeup retouched at least three times only. Even Tippy said that he is not used to being at the prenup shoot itself because his makeup stays on practically forever! Parang tuloy nanghinayang ako sa P4,000 na binayad ko. Sana pala yung P2,500 na lang. Haha!

And it's definitely true what his brides say, you will definitely find a friend in him. I haven't met him personally before our shoot, but as soon as I entered his house for our makeup session, it's as if we have been friends for a long time! There was no awkward moment between us. Chikahan to the max talaga! And since he's friends with Anna and the rest of the Aisle 1401 guys, everyone was happy during that day.

This is where Mox lives, so it was a breeze getting a permit to shoot our prenup there. There were also a lot of places where we could shoot our scenes. And best thing of all, the venue is free! :)

But before I end this blog post, here's another supplier that I want to thank for that day.

ANNIVERSARY CAKE: Toy Cakes and Pastries by Chef Kiko

Since this was our last anniversary as boyfriend/girlfriend, I decided to order a cake from Chef Kiko to celebrate. Transaction with him was a breeze! I just sent my peg and some instructions, and he assured me that he would have it ready for pickup first thing in the morning! And when I saw the cake that he made for us, I felt giddy inside! It was exactly what I wanted. He was able to capture the details of the cake perfectly.

Ang cute diba?! Our cake was made of dark chocolate and you would definitely get a mouthful of chocolate at every bite. The -0.5 was because I thought the cake was too sweet though. Nevertheless, I love it! Thanks Chef! :)

Pre-Prod Meeting with Aira Franco

Last Monday, I took a half-day leave from work to meet with Aira Franco, our prenup stylist. Our prenup is drawing near so we had to finalize our concept and think of possible outfits for our theme. I didn't have any concrete concept in mind, so I really needed Aira's help to think of something that suits our chosen venue.

It will be Aira's first time to shoot in Wawa Dam, so she's very excited about it. She kept on asking us specific questions like whether the venue has proper changing rooms or if there are other notable places in the area where we could shoot. This is so she can already envision the layouts that she would do in each spot.

Luckily I still had the pictures that I took of Wawa Dam, and as soon as she saw the big rock formations, she immediately thought of a concept that is unlike her usual bohemian layouts. And no, it's also not her "diwata/diyosa" looks either. It's something different, which is why both she and I are very excited to do the shoot. She's so excited that she sent our lookboards the same night after our meeting! Ang bilis lang! Haha!

I won't share the lookboards here yet because I want to keep an element of surprise for our prenup shoot, but here's a sneak peek of a peg that she has shown me. This may give you an idea on the overall feel of our shoot.

Can you guess our theme now? Haha! Sorry, that's the only clue that I can give you for now.

Despite the added expense, I'm really glad that we booked Aira for our prenup. She was able to think of a concept that is unique, but it also catches the overall vibe that I wanted our prenup shoot to have. While the outfits that Aira chose are not the usual outfits that  Mox and I wear every day, they still showcase our personalities somehow.  Plus, I just love how hot Mox would look in his clothes! Haha!

Now, time to go shopping! :)

Prenup Venue Ocular: Wawa Dam

Our prenup with our official photographer is scheduled for November and as early as now, we wanted to prepare for it. And so our search for the perfect prenup venue begins.

At first I wanted a beach prenup since it complements our wedding theme, but due to budget constraints, we had to scrap that plan. However, I still wanted to do something outdoorsy for our prenup shoot. I really couldn't let go of the idea of having our prenup shoot in a place where there are big rocks and water. Sort of like a river fairy of some sorts. Haha.

And so I tried to find a venue that is a). near the city to avoid out-of-town charges; b). has no/minimal entrance fees; and c). has big rock formations, and a river if possible. I thought that a venue with these criteria would be impossible to find, but a bride in GirlTalk recommended Wawa Dam in Montalban, Rizal.

I searched some pictures of Wawa Dam and I fell in love with the place instantly! And so, Mox and I went to Wawa Dam yesterday to inquire how to get a permit for the prenup and also to see if the place is really as beautiful as it is in the photos.

Guess what? It's even better in person! I especially love the big rock formations and the flowing river; it's exactly how I pictured my perfect prenup venue to be. We could even rent a raft at the upper lake, which would give us another great angle for pictures. :)

I also liked how nice the locals are. We were about to park in one area of the dam, which has a parking fee of around P100! I know, expensive right? But then, one of the officials in the barangay hall talked to the "parking attendant" and allowed us to move our car to the front of the barangay hall, which is free of charge. That same official even accompanied us to the tourism office to inquire on how to get a permit and toured us around the dams so we can take note of the possible locations where we can have our pictures taken. Ang bait noh?

Now how to get a permit to shoot in Wawa Dam? From our conversation with the tourism officer, we can pay P500 for the permit immediately in their office if the pictorial is set on the day. However, since we still have over a month to prepare for our shoot, the office advised us to coordinate with the main municipal office in town so that we would at least negotiate for a discount. We could even shoot there for free, depending on our negotiations.

But I am still confused on the exact process on how to get a permit. You see, Wawa Dam has a tourism office and a barangay hall in its vicinity, and both offices have different permit fees. The barangay hall charges P500 for the prenup fee, while the tourism office charges P800. Ang labo diba? I'll probably just go to the main municipal office to see whether or not I could get a permit from there.

Tomorrow, I will meet with Aira Franco, our stylist, to discuss our possible looks for our prenup. Our prenup preparations are now in full swing! :)

We Won Another Freenup! :)

I am always on the lookout for more wedding promos to join. Last month, I chanced upon the website of Chasing Tales Photography and saw that they are offering a summer promo.

Yes, it's another chance to win a free prenup shoot! Since I wanted to have another freenup (yeah, I'm vain that way! Haha!), I decided to join. All I had to do was to like their Facebook page and email them our concept for the freenup. Five couples would be chosen for the freenup, which meant more chances of winning! Yey! :)

Sure enough, two weeks ago I received an email from them saying that Mox and I are one of the lucky couples who won the freenup! Yey! :) They didn't specify any shooting dates for the freenup, so I decided to schedule ours for August. I know that is a rainy month, but I want ample time to prepare for our freenup. Plus, we will be very busy in the Ber months since we plan to shoot our Save-the-Date video in October and have our prenup shoot with Osep&Mimi in November. So August is the only possible month for the freenup shoot. Oh diba, parang artista lang. Fully booked ang schedule! Haha!

I already have a concept in mind, but now I'm thinking of possible venues that will allow us to execute our peg. I also need to rack my brain for the clothes that we will wear for the shoot. Naku, eto nanaman tayo. Pahirapan nanaman sa paghahanap ng damit para kay Mox. Haha! Oh well, wish us luck you guys! :)

Prenup Stylist: Booked!

Before, I was dead set against hiring a prenup stylist because it was an added cost to our already growing wedding expenses.  I may not be a certified fashionista, but I believe that I have enough fashion sense to do my own styling for our official prenup with Osep&Mimi. I even made an excel sheet detailing the clothes that Mox and I would wear for each set. My MOH also offered to help as our “unofficial” stylist for free, so I didn’t have anything to worry about.

But suddenly the thought of doing an outdoor prenup crossed my mind. And not just any outdoor prenup, but an out-of-town prenup at a beach! After all, since I couldn’t have my dream beach wedding, might as well have my dream beach prenup diba? I just fell in love with the idea. Ang bongga ko lang eh. Haha.

But when I looked at my closet, I didn’t have the right clothes for the look that I wanted. The clothing guide that I made was for my previous prenup concept, which was supposed to be held at an indoor venue. And the only beach clothes that I have were a bathing suit and a sarong, and there is no way that I would pose for pictures wearing only those!

My budget for a prenup stylist is only P10,000 so I couldn’t afford those who offer pull-outs. I decided to just look for one who would provide me with lookbooks that would help me find the right clothes to wear for a beach prenup. And I found just the perfect one: Aira Franco.

 

Aira is one of the popular stylists in W@W and GirlTalk. Most of her clients have been raving about her, and after exchanging emails with her, I have the same sentiments. She is just so nice! And her rates are pretty affordable too!  I got her basic package, which costs lower than my proposed budget, so hurray for savings! While she wouldn’t provide the clothes, she will provide me lookbooks and lists of specific clothes and items to bring on our shoot. So all I have to do is search for these clothes, or at least those with a similar look to it, at different shops. Oh diba, parang scavenger hunt lang. Haha!

What’s different about Aira’s styling package is that it already includes hair and makeup. She has partner makeup artist, Fritz Mortel, who would accompany her to her styling gigs. And what's even better, she has no OOT charge as long as we would provide transportation for her. So in a way, she is more affordable than an ordinary makeup artist  who would charge extra for out of town trips. May HMUA na, may stylist pa! Oh diba, ang sulit?

Since we don't have a definite date for a prenup yet, I just had to pay 20% to lock in her rates, then the next 30% during our pre-prod meeting. Oooh, I can't wait to meet with her and discuss our concept! :)

The Perfect Anniversary Gift

Since our freenup with NYOi does not include an album, I decided to make my own through Photobook Philippines. Luckily, they had a promo deal at Ensogo so I was able to buy a voucher for a Medium Landscape Imagewrap album—originally at P4,000—for only P939! What a steal!

It took me some time to get used to the Photobook Designer since I am not a techie person, but after a few tries, I was finally able to create the perfect layout for my album. The only problem that I had was trying to fit in all the pictures that I love in only 40 pages. Ang hirap mamili ng pictures ah! Ang gaganda ko kasi sa lahat eh. Haha! Sorry, feelingera lang.

After seven days of waiting, I finally received our freenup album, just in time for our second anniversary. Their tracking system is so efficient! Every activity was recorded in their system, so I knew when my package had arrived here in the office, even before our receptionist notified me. Oh diba, ang galing!

All I can say is… the album is perfect. I love the layout (syempre love your own) and I love the presentation! I couldn't get enough of its "new book" smell. It's the perfect anniversary gift for me and Mox. :)

Now I know why lots of brides are buying vouchers for Photobooks. Nakakaadik palang gumawa ng album eh. I'd probably buy one again for my other photos. :)
